Data Security
The data in the U of M's databases is protected by different laws. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws protect private student data. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) data deals with patient information in the Health industry. Financial data is under the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA).
