Web Site Policy Overview |
| |
- College and some academic unit Web sites are administered via the FileNet content management system. Later in 2007, these sites will migrate to the Stellent content management system.
- Center, research, and project Web sites that choose to use FileNet/Stellent will use the template structure developed for their home unit, but may modify the header to include a center/research/project identity.
- College and unit Web pages developed with partners and funding from outside the college, e.g., InformeDesign, may be exempt from using the template on a case by case basis. Requests for exemption are made to the college's e-communications manager.
- The college's e-communications manager is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the college Web communications in structuring content, ensuring consistency, and adherence to editorial and style guidelines. The e-communications manager also directs Web strategy and planning activities.
- The college's FileNet/Stellent site developer is responsible for administering the technical aspects of the college's Web site (templates, layouts, style sheets, FileNet troubleshooting, liaison with OIT) and providing technical support and guidance to academic unit and center site developers.
- Academic unit and center site developers, in conjunction with the college's FileNet/Stellent site developer and IT staff, are responsible for administering the technical aspects of their Web sites. Academic unit and center staff, in consultation with their directors/heads provide leadership in developing and maintaining content. Both work cooperatively with the college's site developer and e-communications manager.
- A Web Advisory Group made up of representatives from administrative, research, and academic units and centers advises on decisions about policy and guidelines pertaining to Web sites. The college's e-communications manager leads this group.
- College and unit templates incorporate required University of Minnesota elements, college and unit wordmarks/identities, and style sheets. In order to maintain consistency and brand identity, changes and redesigns must be approved by the Web Advisory Group.
